Compare the lanes

IGP, Ring, Mondioring, KNPV and PSA: which lane suits you?

There is no best sport, only a best fit. Here is how the main options differ in feel, so you can decide where to watch first.

IGP

IGP suits people who enjoy structure and detail. It combines tracking, obedience and protection into one trial, so it asks a lot of patience.

Ring sport and Mondioring

These sports have roots in Europe and are known for dynamic, athletic exercises. They are often chosen by handlers who like variety and who have a very fit, agile dog.

KNPV

KNPV comes from the Netherlands and has influenced how police dogs are trained there. It places weight on tracking, obedience and a real-world flavor.

PSA

PSA is popular in the United States and is known for scenario-style protection work. It is a separate organization with its own scoring approach.

How to pick

Visit a few clubs, watch rather than join and talk with handlers. Consider your dog's energy, health and temperament, your schedule and how far you are willing to travel. Always confirm rules with the club.
